That history determines the rhythm: more visitors in good weather, a strong terrace culture, and peaks that shift with the season and holidays.

The name and location refer to the work on the Rietplas in the 90s and the Hondsrug landscape. The west side is designed as a recreation park, the east side as a residential neighborhood. This splits the functions: coffee moments converge in pavilions by the water instead of inner-city cafes. The central square acts as a gateway, with walking routes to the harbor, promenade, and amenities.

Within the neighborhood, there is a notable absence of independent specialty roasters and third-wave bars. The current supply is provided by resort and leisure operators, along with one golf pavilion. Those seeking single-origin beans or alternative milks typically head to Barista Cafe in Emmen-Centrum, which lies outside the neighborhood boundaries.

This reliance on an external destination underscores the resort-centric focus within Parc Sandur.

Parc Sandur holds Green Key Gold certification as well as ISO-14001 and ISO-50001 standards. These certifications cover energy and environmental management and extend to the cafés in Parc Centrum. The municipality and residents are steering toward being gas-free by 2050, with information sessions held in 2024 and 2025. The tender for waterfront hospitality places a strong emphasis on design quality and sustainability from the outset.

Since 2021, technical upgrades have been implemented with a focus on energy reliability. While electrification is being explored for the long term, a gradual transition toward sustainability is underway. During replacement cycles, this will also affect coffee machines and back-of-house equipment, impacting energy demand, maintenance, and product selection.
