The Origins of DENF Coffee
In 2016, Daan Verleg founded DENF Coffee in Eindhoven. The company started as a modest pop-up in Nils Wildenberg’s menswear store and the TAC. Today, the business is located in the iconic De Witte Dame building. DENF calls itself the first and oldest coffee roastery in the city. The name ‘DENF’ was a conscious, personal choice. The letter D stands for Daan, while the other letters refer to people who are important to him. From the start, the focus has been on a deep passion for artisanal coffee roasting rather than mass production.
Coffee with an Italian Soul
Italian coffee culture forms the absolute core of DENF’s philosophy. This influences both the roasting process and the presentation at the bar. Daan carefully selects green beans based on aroma, sweetness, and origin. Sustainability, fair trade, and organic cultivation play a significant role in procurement. The roastery roasts all beans on-site, guaranteeing fresh coffee for the café guests and webshop customers.
Signature Blends and Products
The DENF assortment reflects its Italian inspiration. The coffee menu features several house blends alongside rotating single-origins. Customers can choose from a variety of flavors and styles:

801 | signature blend: The roastery’s flagship. This is an intense coffee, directly inspired by the Italian way of drinking coffee.
Rende Nao: A powerful espresso made from 100% robusta. These beans are grown at high altitudes, offering syrupy, spicy notes with high intensity.
Father & Son Blend: A beloved and consistent choice for espresso.
Galeh and Santa Lucia: Galeh is available as filter coffee, while Santa Lucia is sold as retail coffee.

The current flavor profiles in the selection range from full body and cocoa to subtle fruit and floral synergy.
Brewing Methods and Drinks Menu
The espresso bar offers an extensive drinks menu. Classics such as the Espresso 801, Doppio, Americano, Espresso Macchiato, Cappuccino, Flat White, and Cortado are staples on the menu. For fans of slow brewing methods, DENF also offers V60 and Aeropress. Baristas prepare milk drinks with whole milk using a high-end Kees van der Westen Spirit Duette espresso machine. Guests are always welcome to ask about the current single-origins. Upon request, the staff will grind fresh beans immediately for home use.
Location and Hospitality
DENF is located at Clausplein 4 in the center of Eindhoven. The space spans 230 square meters and houses both the espresso bar and the roastery. Large windows and a clean, stylish interior characterize the bright location. A team of 25 employees ensures smooth table service. The espresso bar is a spot for breakfast, lunch, and relaxation, as well as a pleasant workspace with reliable wifi. Since 1 June 2020, the establishment has featured a green and sunny terrace at the rear. The bar opens at 9:00 AM on weekdays and 10:00 AM on weekends. On Fridays, the doors close at 6:00 PM.
