More About Miss Morrison
Overview: a Delft roaster with a clear compass
Miss Morrison has grown into a recognizable player in the Dutch coffee world. The brand combines decisive choices with a commitment to origin, freshness, and flavor. The result is coffee that remains accessible yet shows real character, appealing to home brewers, hospitality venues, and offices alike.
From road trip to roastery
The story begins in 2013 during a road trip through Tuscany. The journey inspired Cisca Colijn and Martin Kampinga to start roasting their own beans. In April 2014, the shop opened at Voorstraat 7 in Delft. Operations expanded toward Staphorst, with retail at Markt 4 and, as of 2025, roasting on that location as well. On July 1, 2022, the founders announced a handover, making room for new faces.
Roasting philosophy and technique
The house style is a medium roast for all coffees. This ensures the bean remains recognizable and brings out sweetness and balance. Coffee is roasted fresh weekly, and every batch undergoes personal quality control. Profiles are monitored during and after roasting, with extra checks for defects and flavor. Only after approval does the coffee leave the roastery, visible and accessible like an old-fashioned roastery right in the shop.
Blends and single origins
The core range combines familiar profiles with distinct tasting notes. Below are some standout examples.
– Delftse Blend, 50/50 Brazilië Santos and Honduras Copán, milk chocolate, almond, caramel
– Marinero Blend, four origins, designed for milk-based drinks, full-bodied and consistent
– Staphorster Blend, Brazilië Santos and Honduras Copán, bold, sweet, caramel, a crowd-pleaser
– Brazilië Santos, COOCAFE cooperative from Lajinha, 1000–1200 m, mild with caramel sweetness
– Ethiopië Yirgacheffe, 1700–2200 m, washed or sun-dried, citrus, floral, tea-like
Tasting and Experimentation
Innovation takes shape through small batches and bold choices. “Straffe Sjaak India” is a 100% robusta Cherry AA—unusual within the specialty scene, but loved for its nutty punch. The Mix & Match tasting pack bundles 4 × 500 g from seven singles and six blends. A brief coffee test helps link flavors to preferences and gathers feedback. New recipes, such as Morning Blend and Happiness Blend, emerged from this iterative process.
Packaging, Grinding, and Logistics
Packaging comes standard in 500 g and 1000 g. There is a wide choice of grind: whole beans, filter, espresso fine or coarse, percolator, and cafetière. Clear flavor tags on product cards provide guidance, such as “MILD | SUSTAINABLE | SWEET”. Thee in Buisje stands out as a playful, recognizable side product. Free shipping applies to orders over €65, boosting direct online sales.
Origin and Partnerships
Sourcing focuses on the best green beans and conscious choices per origin. Brazilië Santos comes via COOCAFE, founded in 1979, with programs for education and local development. Honduras Copán comes via COCAFCAL in Capucas, supporting approximately twelve communities around San Pedro and Corquín. Around 5,000 people benefit from these projects, while a general assembly of ten members, nine of whom are women, manages the Fairtrade premiums. The roaster works closely with Dutch importers who connect cooperatives and farmers.
People and Community
Founders Cisca Colijn and Martin Kampinga gave the brand its Delft basis. Barista Ramon provides “on-site barista” services with espresso, cappuccino, flat white, and latte macchiato. The Koffie Workshop in Delft is intimate, hosting two participants on Friday mornings at 10:00 AM. Events get an extra boost via the mobile coffee bar. During the Open Bedrijvendag Staphorst on 13 november 2022, live roasting demos drew a large crowd, supported by VIP-Club and subscription services.
Quality and Sustainability as Pillars
Freshness remains the priority, with "freshly roasted weekly" as a steadfast promise. Every batch undergoes cupping and defect control before shipping. Sustainable coffee goes hand-in-hand with quality control, with full transparency regarding supply chain choices. This focus ensures consistency in every cup and espresso shot, even in milk-based drinks. This is how trust is built with both regulars and first-time tasters.
Outlook and New Projects
The product descriptions highlight a continuous quest for new flavors in collaboration with suppliers. Recent blends show that innovation is a planned, ongoing process. In 2025, Miss Morrison Chocolate bars were introduced, such as "Colombia Excelso – Honey Pecans". Education and events are expanding through workshops and the mobile bar. New faces joining the team after 2022 underscore continuity and a commitment to nurturing talent.
Conclusion
In short, this is a roastery defined by focus, craftsmanship, and local roots. Clear flavor profiles, strong origin stories, and an open roastery make all the difference. It makes choosing easy and makes your daily cup just that little bit better.
