Since its founding in 2001, CoffeeXperts has been a staple in the Dutch coffee sector. The story began in 2002 with the specialty shop de Mélangerie in the center of Hoorn. In 2005, the company began roasting coffee within its own shop. The focus shifted in 2009 toward a larger, specialized roastery in Enkhuizen. A year later, the shop was sold to focus entirely on the roasting process. Founders Jan Schuitemaker and Tosca Schuitemaker-Kreike lead the company today. Both hold official SCA diplomas, with Tosca being the very first in the Netherlands to achieve this in 2014. Jan even won the prestigious world roasting title in Cologne in 2009.

Innovative and Sustainable Roasting Techniques

The roastery in Enkhuizen consciously employs a slow roasting process. This allows the beans sufficient time to optimally develop their unique flavors and aromas. In 2013, CoffeeXperts was the first Dutch roastery to use an energy-efficient Loring coffee roaster. In 2020, they added a second advanced machine of this brand to their equipment. The company states that these roasters use up to eighty percent less gas than traditional systems. The machines utilize an internal burner and incinerate the smoke without the need for an additional external afterburner. Using specialized Cropster software, the team continuously analyzes and refines the various roast profiles. Furthermore, the company roasts exclusively to order to guarantee maximum freshness and prevent unnecessary waste.

Direct Sourcing and Exclusive Flavor Profiles

Green coffee is sourced globally and as directly from the coffee farmer as possible. Jan and Tosca travel annually to the producing countries to carefully cup the new harvests. During these visits, they also inspect the local working conditions on the affiliated plantations. In doing so, they build long-term, sustainable relationships with coffee producers in the countries of origin. Importers then assist with the logistical transport of the beans to the roastery in Noord-Holland. All extensive quality controls, including cupping and strict bean selection, take place in-house. The final assortment consists of various signature coffees with diverse and complex flavor profiles.

The Three Private Label Packages

Basic: Suitable for smaller businesses with a minimum order of ten kilograms per variety.
Plus: A more extensive option with a minimum order of fifteen kilograms for the client.
Premium: The most comprehensive package starting from thirty kilograms, including an annual evaluation with the team.

Clients can choose from various standard coffees, different packaging options, and fully printed color labels. In addition to coffee beans, the company supplies coffee machines, accessories, and maintenance products throughout the Netherlands. Jan Schuitemaker also provides consultancy for aspiring entrepreneurs looking to start their own roastery or seeking specific equipment.
