More About Slick Coffee Roasters

The Rise of Slick Coffee Roasters
Slick Coffee Roasters began as a school project focused on entrepreneurship and grew into a professional player. Founder Dave Timmer became fascinated by the layered flavors of specialty coffee in Amsterdam in 2019. After an early startup phase, the company officially registered in December 2022. Additionally, Roderik Nieboer served as co-owner for over two years. The roastery’s headquarters are located in Heerhugowaard. The company’s mission is to bring specialty coffee culture specifically to this city. Previously, there was a physical coffee bar at the Parelhof. Today, the online webshop delivers to as many as fifteen different countries within Europe.
Philosophy and Small-Scale Production
The company’s core values are honesty, enjoyment, and transparency. The team handles everything in-house, from cupping and selection to roasting. Freshness is central to their daily production, with the roastery roasting fresh harvests in small batches every week to ensure optimal flavor. They are open with their customers about the origin and the cost of the beans. For commercial blends, they exclusively use beans with an SCA qualification, sourced from sustainable plantations that respect both people and the environment. The roasting style ranges from light to medium, resulting in an accessible and balanced cup.
The Assortment: Single Origins and Blends
The permanent consumer range consists of seven specific products. Customers can choose from three single origins, three blends, and a convenient tasting pack. The House Blend and Kickstart Blend combine high-quality beans from Ethiopia, Brazil, and Colombia. During the winter months, Slick offers a limited-edition Christmas Blend, which surprises the palate with notes of almond cookies, caramel, and crisp apple. For those who love unique flavors, there are three single origins:

Timbo, Brazilië: A medium-roasted espresso of the Catuai variety, grown at 900 to 1,200 meters using the honey process.
Huila, Colombia: A washed Caturra sourced from two hundred small-scale farmers, grown at an altitude of 1,700 to 1,800 meters.
Guij, Ethiopië: A natural Bourbon variety from the Oromo family, grown at high altitudes between 1,900 and 2,200 meters, featuring floral and fruity notes.

Farmer Relationships and Transparency
The roastery places great value on the authentic story behind the coffee. In the Huila region of Colombia, they collaborate with farmer Antonio Gomez; this area is globally renowned for its volcanic soil and perfect altitude. In Ethiopia, the company maintains direct contact with the Oromo family, whose producers grow beans with distinct fruity and mildly acidic flavors. The roastery consistently shares the names of the farmers, varieties, processing methods, and altitudes. This level of transparency is incredibly valuable for conscious consumers.
A Strong Partner in the B2B Market
Slick positions itself as a flexible partner for other businesses, offering wholesale, white-label options, and a mobile pop-up coffee bar. Furthermore, they develop unique blends that align seamlessly with a client’s brand identity. A successful example is the special coffee blend created for construction company Mastermate, which the roastery served at the BouwBeurs in Utrecht. Real estate company Elfi also includes their coffee bags in welcome packages for new tenants. Additionally, the mobile bar has already seen success at the regional market near Museum BroekerVeiling.
Education and Development for the Home Barista
To guide their customers, Slick developed a handy four-step coffee selection tool. Users select their brewing method, such as a V60, French Press, AeroPress, or automatic machine, and then choose the correct quantity and desired flavor profile. Previously, the website also featured a library full of inspiration and practical brewing tips. Founder Dave Timmer indicated a desire to launch physical workshops in the future, as the company aims to further expand the knowledge of home barista’s through targeted articles and videos.
