More About Pacamara Coffee Roasters
Pacamara Coffee Roasters, a fresh specialist from Halsteren
Pacamara Coffee Roasters was founded around 2022 with a clear goal: bringing specialty coffee closer to the Brabantse Wal region. Operating out of Halsteren, the roastery positions itself as the go-to specialty brand for Bergen op Zoom and the surrounding area. Their mission is short and powerful: “freshly roasted, with respect for the farmer and the bean”. The company appeared in regional media in October 2023 and again in January 2025, highlighting their focus on flavor and sustainable roasting.
Roasting philosophy and technology: electric and wind-powered
At the heart of their approach is a fully electric Probat P05, powered by 100 percent Dutch wind energy via Pure Energie. Pacamara states that this electric Probat was a first in the Netherlands upon adoption, underscoring their early commitment to low-emission roasting. The roasting schedule is tightly organized for Mondays and Thursdays, ensuring orders are included in the very next fresh roast. In product development, origin communication is central, with clear details about the source and process on every label.
Portfolio character: bold singles and accessible blends
The offering combines distinct single origins with recognizable signatures. Origin and processing methods drive the flavor profile, while transparent stories explain the nuances at the bar and in the shop. A few striking examples illustrate the breadth of their assortment.
Nicaragua La Bendición, Pacamara Natural, from producer Luis Alberto Balladarez, approx. 1300 meters, dried for 30–35 days at Las Segovias Mill.
Kenya “Mary Tonje” Washed, from Caruvianel Estate within the Sakami collective, a favorite of co-owner Vincent, with a note that Mary Tonje passed away in July 2024.
Uganda “Kuosha Crisp” Washed, from the foothills of the Rwenzori, approx. 300 smallholders, 48 hours fermentation, 24 hours washing, then sun-dried.
Guatemala “Yulchen” Washed, from Petatán, Huehuetenango, from producer Cristina Hernandez, selected via Primavera Coffee.
Colombia “Santa Maria” DECAF, Huila community lot via The Coffee Quest, sugarcane, EA decaf, approx. 97 percent caffeine removed.
Sourcing and relationships, focused on traceable chains
Pacamara sources green coffee via This Side Up and The Coffee Quest, prioritizing traceability and above-average payments to producers. Microlots and single farm selections, such as Finca La Bendición and Caruvianel Estate, are given full context and producer names on the product pages. Guatemala selections are sourced in collaboration with Primavera Coffee. For Uganda, small farmers collaborate via Agri Evolve at the Nyabirongo station, where processing steps are shared transparently.
Transparency and sustainability, from skills to packaging
The team follows SCA Coffee Skills and Coffee Sustainability modules, strengthening their foundation in quality control and supply chain insight. Packaging is supplied by Dutch Coffee Pack and is claimed to be CO₂-neutral via Gold Standard certified projects. The roastery operates fully electrically, powered by 100% Dutch wind energy. For the customer, Pacamara emphasizes a short value chain and publishes detailed origin information on its product pages.
Production and fulfillment: fresh and predictable
The Probat P05 is the heart of a modern roastery in Halsteren, utilizing fully electric, renewable production. Roasting takes place twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, to ensure maximum freshness. Packaging and fulfillment are handled in-house, with shipping within two business days. This operational cadence ensures consistent quality for cafes, offices, and home consumers.
Distribution and service: fast local delivery and nationwide coverage
The webshop delivers nationwide and offers same-day delivery locally in Bergen op Zoom and Halsteren. Next-day delivery is available via Moss or Cycloon bike couriers where active, otherwise via GLS or DHL. Orders can be picked up at the roastery or at Lunchcafé Lies in Bergen op Zoom. For the hospitality sector and offices, they offer machine programs featuring Victoria Arduino, Nuova Simonelli, Iberital, and Kees van der Westen. Office solutions are provided via JURA, Animo, and Egro.
Education and community: learning, sharing, and building a palate
Pacamara provides Barista and Latte Art workshops as well as corporate training, led by an SCA-certified trainer. The blog covers specialty basics, price shocks, and press releases, with contributions spanning 2023 to 2025. Regional interviews in October 2023 and January 2025 help deepen the understanding of specialty coffee in the region. Digital channels include Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and Facebook, complemented by a newsletter and a Shopify-powered site.
Team and management: craftsmanship at the forefront
Co-owner Vincent van Dienst leads roasting, training, and public education, and was featured in a regional series in January 2025. René focuses on commercial development and the sale of espresso machines to business clients, bringing years of experience. The team's certifications in SCA skills and sustainability demonstrate a commitment to knowledge-driven quality.
What this means for the Dutch coffee sector
Pacamara demonstrates that electric roasting, transparent sourcing, and frequent fresh production go hand in hand. The combination of wind energy, short supply chains, and targeted education makes the brand relevant for bars, roasters, and conscious consumers. For professionals, the portfolio offers recognizable flavor profiles with full context, while logistics and service align with daily operational needs. In Halsteren, a compact, transparent, and future-proof model for specialty coffee is taking shape.
