Drum roasting
With drum roasting, coffee beans are heated in a rotating drum, often with gas or electric heat. Because of the constant movement, the beans roast evenly, allowing flavors to develop gradually. This process results in controlled caramelization and deeper layers of flavor. Drum roasting is popular among artisan roasters who value precision and a traditional approach.
